What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I have learnt that time cannot be wasted when producing a film in a designated period of time. Our group in fairness failed to plan, which lead to our first film turning into shambles, when we came to terms with this we decided to re-film, with the same time given as last time (100 mins) however this time we planned (with a little making up on the spot) and we got the film finished on time. The technologies i have learnt to use are the filimg equipment, tripod and camera, these are vital equipment obviously but it was nice to become familiar with the equipment we were using as i was not filimg i was acting. If i regret anything it was that i did not put myself forward to edit. It would have been nice to of learnt during the prelim exercise as it gives me experience for when it comes to the real thing.

How did you attract/address your audience?

One possible way in which we adressed our audience is by the title of our film which is Gordano, as this is a prestigious school people will recognise the name and be interested, and moreimportantly students will have an interest. Our film targets our specific target audience as it is filmed around the Sixthform area it appeals to the 6th form students staright away.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

Our target audience are those in the age groups are 16-18. It would be for people who are currently in a relationship and know the ordeals of our film. It would appeal to both male and female as there is a commical side to it and a synicall one.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The genre of our film is one similar to Holyoaks, however our relates to teenagers of the age attending sixthform. Our prelim is on a relationship however the genre is not romantic. I feel our prelim could be distributed by companys who deal with soaps such as Eastenders or producers of Hollyoaks, the reason for this is because there is not a great variety of shows targeted to Teenagers aged 16-18 and our prelim which looked specifically at relationships could potentially work in this scarce market. I do not think there would be a charge on our product unless released on DVD if it became successful and much longer ofcourse. The best possible solution to financing would have to be sponsorship and perhaps even advertisment space.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our prelim represented the life of sixth form students, but not a in a studious way. Our prelim was about relationships between males and females. We portrayed the male character as decietful as he was seeing another girl whilst already in a relationship, whereas the females were represented as victims. We represented the male as being cheeky/fun but at the same time negative, as he knew what he was doing was wrong however when he was exposed to having another relationship he was very sly in coming clean which gave a commical effect to it. To add to our commical side of the prelim, the girlfriend as punishment slapped the male which could be seen as positive. The dialogue used in the prelim was what average teenager/sixth formers would used, we kept the prelim very natural, we got people out of their comfort zones to partcipate in the prelim and they did the job perfectly.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My AS preliminary exercise consisted of a number of camera shots in order for viewer to understand what is happening so they are able to understand the plot of the story from the start. At the beggining of our film we have two friends (layla & rosie) talking , we used shot reverse shots and over the shoulder shots shots when each of them spoke, this is to allow the viewer to follow the conversation, and to be able to see any emotion during dialogue. Rosie and Layla postioned themselves on the set (grass outside sixth form) in the way which was capable of allowing us to keep to the 180 degree rule, this is to make sure the viewer is not disoeriented on the whereabouts of the actors, from the start they will know which side each actor is.
We used the close up shot in throughout the film in order to capture the emotions shown by the characters, so the viewer can determine whether the scene is sad, happy etc...
We used correct framing in the terms of having the camera on the head level of actors, this so there is no confusion of who is talking to who, and it is vital any actions or emotion is visible.
As i was one of the charatcers in the film i cannot go into great detail of why some shots were used however what i can say is, the shots we used helped to make the film what we wanted it to become. It made it commical and serious when we needed it to be.
